2 intense days of learning and practice at 7,000 feet

Join us in the majestic mountains of Utah for an intimate, one-of-a-kind UX and Product Management training experience. Select 4 half-day workshops, for 2 intense days of learning and practice. No passive education here. This isn't for the faint of heart. We'll be working together, at 7,000 feet and atop the greatest snow on earth, in small groups of six, where you'll be expected to collaborate and engage.

Each workshop will be limited to 48 students* and taught by industry leaders and some of tech's most skilled practitioners. Breakfast and lunch are provided each day. And yeah, we certainly expect that you'll stay an extra day-or two-for some time in on the slopes.

User story mapping

Ideal Agile development teams build small valuable chunks of functionality. But, that’s easier said than done. Not all products or features are small and breaking them down into small buildable parts is challenging. And, even when you do, how do the people building those small parts not lose sight of the big picture? Story mapping is a simple practice for telling the story of a whole product or feature starting by telling the stories of the users who’ll use it. In this fast paced workshop you’ll learn the concepts of story mapping by building a map collaboratively with others. You’ll learn advanced techniques for slicing a map to find small viable product releases, and then how to build your product using smaller stories without losing sight of the big picture.

We prototype to learn. The earlier and quicker we learn, the better our products can become. As designers, we now have the ability to flesh out product ideas in ways that can feel real to users – allowing us to move design experiments out of the lab and into the real-world. And it’s when our ideas meet real use in real situations that we can learn the actual value people can receive from them. MVP Experiments that Work

Minimum Viable Products have become a wildly misunderstood concept in product development. In some companies, MVP has even become a dirty word signifying terrible design and broken code. Not true. Good MVPs help you determine which experiences to build for your customers. It becomes clear which features you should invest in, and which ones to skip. In this workshop, we’ll debunk the common misconceptions around MVPs and learn how to create effective experiments that will test your hypotheses while delivering value to your user. Hands on exercises will demonstrate the roles of each team member. By the end of the session, you will know what makes a good MVP experiment and how to create one.

User research is fun. Driving, flying, biking or ubering to get to the user research? Less fun. Not to mention a huge time waster. As a firm believer in work-from-homing and the potential productivity boostage it can bring, and possessing an anthropological zeal for exploring my own inner introvert, I would like to share with you the skills, techniques, and tools necessary to make remote user testing as successful as in-person testing. In this workshop you can expect to take actual prototypes (either your own or examples provided) and work to plan, build, and perform both live and self-moderated (on-demand), remote, user testing campaigns.
