This session aims to arm you with the insights and understanding needed to create user interfaces that are not just visually appealing, but also functional and intuitive. We'll kick-start the workshop with an observational exercise to understand what makes an interface effective, followed by a discussion of design principles. Finally, we will put theory into practice by breaking into groups and collaboratively building a UI from the ground up, implementing the principles and techniques we've discussed.

Josh

Josh has been in the design field for over a decade, and he's become a go-to guy for complex technical products, especially when it comes to enterprise design or AI and machine learning. He's super focused on making user experiences that hit the sweet spot between looking great and being easy to use. At MX, Josh is taking the helm of a team of designers, focusing on reimagining developer tools to boost integration speed and user-friendliness. He's also spent a couple of years teaching and mentoring new UX/UI designers, sharing tips and techniques that are useful both in the classroom and on the job.

He doesn't stop at designing for work—he's a maker at heart. Whether it's building custom computers, getting creative with 3D printing, trying his hand at woodworking, or even whipping up his own apps and video games, he loves to tinker and create. So when you mix his decade-long design career with his passion for building, you get someone who's not just about making things look good, but also about understanding how they're put together from the ground up.
